What the app can solve
Exact solving, every step explained: linear and quadratic equations, polynomials with rational roots, biquadratic equations, fractions, square roots, exponentials, logarithms, absolute values, and sine, cosine and tangent of a linear expression.
Also: linear systems (Gaussian elimination), linear and quadratic inequalities, differential equations y′ = ay + b.
Everything else (for example cos(x) = x) is solved with approximate values, by sign changes and bisection between −60 and 60, and the app says so clearly. No program can solve every equation exactly: many have no solution that can be written as a formula.
